Madi was recognized at the annual dinner of the North Side Leadership Conference on June 14 for her diligent and creative work as coordinator of the Food City Community Garden.
In recent months she has spearheaded projects to make the space fully accessible and more beautiful. The garden, located near the intersection of Tripoli and Chestnut streets, consists of about 35 garden beds that residents rent each summer. Madi coordinates garden plot assignments, organizes community volunteer events, and obtains garden resources such as water, compost, and mulch.
Madi lives in East Deutschtown with her fiancé Jake. After moving to the city to attend the University of Pittsburgh, she settled in the Northside in 2014. She works in the financial services industry for PNC Investments.
Our community members are very grateful for Madi’s stewardship of this important neighborhood amenity. In her hands, Food City has really blossomed!
